Wales World Wide, the online network that promotes exports and inward investment for Welsh businesses, has launched a free function to help members identify international events and networking opportunities.

Its new ‘Events Calendar’ service will profile events from Bangkok to Brisbane, Chicago to Chelmsford, Victoria to Vancouver, and wherever there are events taking place that have a connection with Wales.

The service is already listing events from over 30 international Welsh societies and will act as a point of contact for anyone looking to connect with ex-pat and Welsh business communities on their international trips.

Mitchell Gadd, content and marketing manager at Wales World Wide, said: “This is a unique and interactive tool that not only profiles local events with an international focus, but also international events of interest to Welsh businesses and those that celebrate all things Welsh.”

Just some of the events already listed include the St. David’s Society of Hong Kong annual ball, with guest visitor Ms. Mari Williams who won the first prize at the 2012 Lampeter Eisteddfod, and the Welsh Society of Philadelphia’s 285threception and banquet to celebrate the Patron Saint of Wales.

Mitchell continues:  “We didn’t want to recreate another calendar of business events in Wales; our focus is to highlight the international outreach that the Welsh community has, not just in business terms, but culturally too. The service is all about listing a variety of international events that really showcase Wales worldwide.

“So, if you are interested in attending a St. David’s Day ball, an annual Eisteddfod, or even a six nations get together, you can look to celebrate these key dates beyond your local Welsh community.

“For example, with the much-celebrated St. David’s Day fast approaching, the Wales World Wide calendar profiles events from over 30 international Welsh societies, and we are encouraging others to add their events to our listing too.”

Heather Powell, bard of the St. David’s Society in Bangkok, said: “The St. David’s Society (Cymdeithas Dewi Sant) in Bangkok are very pleased to have found this international web forum which we can use to feature the society’s up and coming events.

“By being a member of the society hopes to be able to raise the profile of the Welsh centred activity that is taking place in Thailand and also to connect with other societies and organisations both in the region and back in Wales.”

Members can even add their own listing by joining Wales World Wide for free and telling Wales and the world about their business, social or cultural event and how it can benefit Welsh businesses.
